Villa Raiano is a winery that produces its Greco di Tufo in Raiano Serino, in the province of Avellino. A renowned winery in Campania that presents a structure perfectly integrated in the surrounding environment, with a wonderful terrace overlooking the valley furrowed by the Sabato river, populated by vineyards and woods that compose a bucolic landscape for dreamers. The scent of wild moss is intertwined with the sinuous hill and mountain textures of Irpinia, a southern land that shows an unusual face of Southern Italy, more austere. Its labels were originally produced in the old mills that the family traditionally used to process oil. The main project is to try to use the vineyards in a way that gives completely different results from each other, because diversity is the strength of these places, and focusing on the different inclinations of the terroir is fundamental for these territories.

Villa Raiano's Greco di Tufo grows on the banks of the Sabato River, which is the common denominator for all white grape varieties in the area.Its clusters, small and compact, are raised in the seven hectares located between Altavilla and Montefusco, and the vines take root in excellent soil, 500 meters above sea level, of a clay matrix, rich in volcanic ash, which is particularly fertile for the cultivation of this vine.Harvesting takes place in the first week of September and is done exclusively by hand.Once transported to the winery, the whole cluster undergoes a soft pressing and subsequent static decantation, followed by temperature-controlled fermentation and aging, both carried out in stainless steel tanks for a short period so as not to affect the varietal's primary aromas.

The characteristics of Greco di Tufo are well reflected in Villa Raiano's label, starting with its bright straw yellow color.

At first, notes of orange blossom and elderberry emerge, followed by the freshness of anise, maple and medlar that accompanies a more almondy finish, enriched by hints of quince.The sip is intense and emphasizes a powerful structure of vibrant freshness and a finish with distinct mineral notes, donated by the volcanic soil.It is a typical example of this rustic vine, which too many times has been tried to domesticate, but in reality too much like a tough guy, of few words, but of great qualities impossible to homologate. We have only to accept him to appreciate him at his best.

Nose: Notes of medlar, Mediterranean herbs, white flowers, citrus and mineral accents

Palate: Balanced and agile, with sharp freshness, saline texture and mineral progression
