The Susumaniello Susco, from the Apulian winery San Marzano, is produced with an ancient native dark grape variety of Salento. It looks like an enveloping and intense red wine.

Susco is a 100% Susumaniello, the result of the work to enhance the Salento area and its historic vines. The best bunches are quickly started to ferment with selected yeasts and with a maceration on the skins lasting about ten days. Before bottling, the wine ages for 6 months in French and American oak barriques.
In the glass it shows a beautiful ruby red, intense and luminous. The nose reveals a bouquet characterized by fragrant notes of ripe red fruit, accompanied by elegant sensations of soft oriental spices, hints of wild herbs from the Mediterranean scrub, balsamic and slightly woody nuances. With a good structure, it has an important tannic texture, smoothed by aging in wood and well integrated with ripe and rich fruity aromas, which accompany towards a harmonious and refreshing finish. The finish returns to a pleasant spicy note.
This wine goes well with pasta with meat sauce, baked pasta, grilled meats and aged cheeses.
