Product Details

Every year, since its foundation, the Maison Krug creates a new edition of Krug Grande Cuvée to offer the most generous expression of Champagne. This bottle is part of the 171ème Édition of Krug Grande Cuvée, a blend of 146 wines selected from 11 different vintages. The youngest dates back to 2013, while the oldest is from 2000. The rest of about seven years in the Krug cellars gives this edition a remarkable expression and elegance. Each of his glasses is the result of over 20 years of artisanal excellence. The 171ème Édition by Krug Grande Cuvée was created from the 2013 harvest. The season began with a winter that seemed endless, followed by a rainy and cool spring. Fortunately, the summer was warm and sunny, although punctuated by a hail that did not spare the vineyards. The wines of the year were complete, expressive and full of flavors. To create this Édition, the Chef de Caves has tried to accentuate the fullness and wonderful aromatic elegance of the year with wines from different plots and from 10 different vintages. The care dedicated to the vineyards and the attention given by Krug to the unique properties of each soil have allowed to obtain the great expressiveness of this Édition of Krug Grande Cuvée. In total, the reserve wines from the House’s extensive collection make up 40% of the final blend, a contribution that brings the breadth and roundness that are indispensable for every edition of Krug Grande Cuvée. The final composition of this bottle of Krug Grande Cuvée is 43% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay and 22% Meunier.
